TheAD7813isahighspeed,microprocessor-compatible,8-/10-bitanalog-to-digitalconverterwithamaximumthrough-putof400kSPS.Theconverteroperatesoffasingle+2.7Vto+5.5Vsupplyandcontainsa2.3mssuccessiveapproximationA/Dconverter,track/holdcircuitry,on-chipclockoscillatorand8-bitwideparallelinterface.TheparallelinterfaceisdesignedtoalloweasyinterfacingtomicroprocessorsandDSPs.The10-bitconversionresultisreadbycarryingouttwo8-bitreadoperations.Thefirstreadoperationaccessesthe8MSBsoftheADCconversionresultandthesecondreadaccessesthe2LSBs.UsingonlyaddressdecodinglogictheAD7813iseasilymappedintothemicroprocessoraddressspace.
Whenusedinitspower-downmode,theAD7813automaticallypowersdownattheendofaconversionandpowersupatthestartofanewconversion.Thisfeaturesignificantlyreducesthepowerconsumptionofthepartatlowerthroughputrates.TheAD7813canalsooperateinahighspeedmodewherethepartisnotpowereddownbetweenconversions.Inthismodeofoperationthepartiscapableofproviding400kSPSthroughput.
Thepartisavailableinasmall,16-pin,0.3"wide,plasticdual-in-linepackage(DIP),ina16-pin,0.15"wide,narrowbodysmalloutlineIC(SOIC)andina16-pinthinshrinksmalloutlinepackage(TSSOP).
