TheADV7441Acontainstwomainprocessingsections.Thefirstsectionisthestandarddefinitionprocessor(SDP),whichprocessesalltypesofPAL,NTSC,andSECAMsignals.Thesecondsectionisthecomponentprocessor(CP),whichprocessesYPrPbandRGBcomponentformats,includingRGBgraphics.TheCPalsoprocessesthevideosignalsfromtheHDMIreceiver.TheADV7441AcankeeptheHDCPlinkbetweenaHDMIsourceandtheselectedHDMIportactiveinanalogmodeoperation.ThisallowsforfastswitchingbetweentheanalogandHDMImodes.

Asadecoder,theADV7441AcanconvertPAL,NTSC,andSECAMcompositeorS-VideosignalsintoadigitalITU-RBT.656format.ItcanalsodecodeacomponentRGBorYPrPbvideosignalintoadigitalYCrCborRGBpixeloutputstream.TheADV7441Asupportsthe525i,625i,525p,625p,720p,1080i,1080p,and1250icomponentvideostandards,aswellasmanyotherHDandSMPTEstandards.SCARTandoverlayfunctionalityareenabledbytheabilityoftheADV7441AtoprocessCVBSandstandarddefinitionRGBsignalssimultaneously.Asagraphicsdigitizer,theADV7441AcandigitizeRGBgraphicssignalsfromVGAtoUXGAratesandconvertthemtoadigitalRGBorYCrCbpixeloutputstream.

TheADV7441Aincorporatesadual-inputHDMI1.3-compatiblereceiverthatsupportsHDTVformatsupto1080panddisplayresolutionsuptoUXGA.ThereceptionofencryptedvideoispossiblewiththeinclusionofHDCP.TheinclusionofadaptiveequalizationintheHDMIreceiverensuresrobustoperationoftheinterfacewithcablelengthsupto30meters.TheHDMIreceiverhasadvancedaudiofunctionality,includingamutecontrollerthatpreventsaudibleextraneousnoiseintheaudiooutput.

Tofacilitateprofessionalapplications,whereHDCPprocessinganddecryptionisnotrequired,aderivativepartoftheADV7441Aisavailable.ThisallowsuserswhoarenotHDCPadopterstopurchasetheADV7441A(seetheOrderingGuidesectionfordetails).
