TheSSM2301featuresahighefficiency,lownoisemodulationschemethatdoesnotrequireexternalLCoutputfilters.Themodu-lationprovideshighefficiencyevenatlowoutputpower.TheSSM2301operateswith85%efficiencyat1.4Winto8Ωfroma5.0Vsupplyandhasasignal-to-noiseratio(SNR)thatisgreaterthan98dB.Spread-spectrummodulationisusedtoprovidelowerEMI-radiatedemissionscomparedwithotherClass-Darchitectures.
TheSSM2301hasamicropowershutdownmodewithamaximumshutdowncurrentof30nA.ShutdownisenabledbyapplyingalogiclowtotheSDpin.
Thedevicealsoincludespop-and-clicksuppressioncircuitry.Thisminimizesvoltageglitchesattheoutputduringturn-onandturn-off,thusreducingaudiblenoiseonactivationanddeactivation.
ThefullydifferentialinputoftheSSM2301providesexcellentrejectionofcommon-modenoiseontheinput.Inputcouplingcapacitorscanbeomittedifthedcinputcommon-modevoltageisapproximatelyVDD/2.
