TheAD8123isatriple,highspeed,differentialreceiverandequalizerthatcompensatesforthetransmissionlossesofUTPandcoaxialcablesupto300metersinlength.Variousgainstagesaresummedtogethertobestapproximatetheinversefrequencyresponseofthecable.LogiccircuitryinsidetheAD8123controlsthegainfunctionsoftheindividualstagessothatthelowestnoisecanbeachievedatshort-to-mediumcablelengths.Thistechniqueoptimizesitsperformanceforlownoise,short-to-mediumrangeapplications,whileatthesametimeprovidesthehighgainbandwidthrequiredforlongcableequalization(upto300meters).Eachchannelfeaturesahighimpedancedifferentialinputthatisidealforinterfacingdirectlywiththecable.
TheAD8123hasthreecontrolpinsforoptimalcablecompensation,aswellasanoutputoffsetadjustpin.Twovoltage-controlledpinsareusedtocompensatefordifferentcablelengths;theVPEAKpincontrolstheamountofhighfrequencypeakingandtheVGAINpinadjuststhebroadbandflatgain,whichcompensatesforthelowfrequencyflatcableloss.
Foraddedflexibility,anoptionalpoleadjustmentpin,VPOLE,allowsmovementofthepolelocations,allowingforthecompensationofdifferentgaugesandtypesofcableaswellasvariationsbetweendifferentcablesand/orequalizers.TheVOFFSETpinallowsthedcvoltageattheoutputtobeadjusted,addingflexibilityfordc-coupledsystems.
TheAD8123isavailableina6mm×6mm,40-leadLFCSPandisratedtooperateovertheextendedtemperaturerangeof−40°Cto+85°C.
